2020 will be the year we remember the Coronavirus swept the globe, creating fear, taking lives and killing the economy.

Do you have 20/20 vision to see some good news lurking behind this virus?

Text Version of the Video Below

Silent Enemy

Many have used the phrase the ‘silent enemy’ to describe the pandemic, but as bad as this disease is, there is a silent enemy more lethal on the planet. The Bible calls it ‘sin.’ What is sin? ‘Sin is lawlessness’ (1 John 3:4). Sin is breaking God’s law – which we have all done! Sin is our silent enemy.

You may not have been infected with Coronavirus, but 100% of the world’s population are infected with sin. The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We all mess-up, sometimes in a big way, and it always has consequences. Here is why our community is plagued with troubles – from marriage problems to the need to build more prisons. Sin is the silent enemy bringing the greatest havoc across the globe, and in our lives.

Social Distancing

‘Social distancing’ is now part of our vocabulary and a practise in our daily lives, but the silent enemy of sin has long separated us from our Maker, taking social distancing to a cosmic level. Again, the Bible tells us, “Yours sins have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you” (Isaiah 59:2). Sin has separated us from God, who is life itself.

We are glad that the Coronavirus death rate has been low in Australia, but the disease of sin has a 100% mortality rate. You and I cannot avoid death. “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). The holy and just God must punish sin – that is only right! If your loved one was murdered and a court judge did not deliver justice, you would rightly be outraged. So too, the righteous God of heaven must punish sin – that is only fair!

Coronavirus is a dangerous disease, but sin is far worse. Due to our infection with sin, we are under God’s condemnation. Unless we come to Him for salvation, 100% of us will remain under God’s wrath now and for all eternity in hell. “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).

Saving Vaccine

Countries all over the globe are giving millions of dollars and countless hours to find a vaccine for the Coronavirus; a virus that can at worst, kill your body (and we hope a cure is soon available). But the universally fatal disease of sin has a proven vaccine and is effective for saving your never-dying soul. This saving vaccine does not come in the form of a drug designed in a laboratory, or even your own religious effort. The saving vaccine comes in the form of a Person who was sent from heaven, namely Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

The Bible declares, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Friend, the Coronavirus is not your greatest concern; it is your sin and the terrible trouble you are in before the holy God. So, do you see the good news? Reread the verse above (John 3:16).

Did you see the promise? ‘Whoever believes’ in Jesus Christ will never perish but have everlasting life.

It does not matter what you have done in the past – ‘whoever’ turns from their sin and trusts in what Jesus did for sinners (He lived a sinless life and died in the place of sinners, bearing our punishment), will receive the gift of everlasting life.

The saving vaccine has been lovingly designed by God and purchased by His Son, through His death and resurrection. Will you not place your believing trust in what Jesus lovingly did for sinners?

Embrace this good news today and ask God to save you. ‘Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved’ (Romans 10:13).
